Today marks a cluck-tastic milestone for our chicken-keeping journey—I’ve finally finished building the chicken house! After weeks of planning, measuring, and a fair bit of trial and error (who knew wood could be so stubborn?), I’m thrilled to announce that our feathered friends will soon have a cozy new home. It’s an egg-citing time as I prepare to welcome the hens, each with their own quirky personality and charm. I can already imagine the delightful chaos they’ll bring! From their curious clucks to the occasional fowl play, this adventure promises to be anything but dull. Join me as I dive into this new chapter filled with laughter, learning, and perhaps a few surprises along the way. Bring on the chickens!

- Finally finished (mostly) our chicken run!We had been using temporary janky run for our girls for the past couple months while we got through a busy time at work. Finally last week we were able to set some days aside and get it done. We’re first time chicken owners so this has been a huge learning experience for us. We have a lot to learn still, but we’re feeling pretty proud of this next step and wanted to share with this community cus you guys have been an amazing resource for us. - Very Productive SaturdayWorked from 8-8 yesterday getting this new chicken run made! Felt like forever but there was only two of us doing it. Its 12x9, and about 7 feet at the highest point. Might be overkill but it looks so much better than the other run we had. (Last picture) Still not totally finished, need to finish the hardware cloth where the wall meets the roof, add the tin roof, put up the door and a couple other finishing touches. Anyone have any suggestions as to things I can put inside. I was thinking of maybe building them a spiral perch "staircase" so they have something to climb on. - Backyard build almost doneRemodeled my garage and was going to use old cabinets to build a coop. Wife wanted something nicer (I swear it would’ve been good) ended up with this. No plans, just made a sketch and went for it. My dad kept chickens/turkeys so I wasn’t totally green. Happy with how it turned out. I’m a white collar guy so I’m pretty proud of this build. Not really finished, going to lay pavers and stones around it, but it’s done for now. 6 week old chicks finally out of the garage and loving it.
