Backyard build almost finished
Our take
After a whirlwind of creativity and a sprinkle of determination, my backyard project is almost complete! I decided to transform my garage into a cozy chicken coop, initially planning to repurpose old cabinets. However, my wife had a vision for something a bit nicer—though I still stand by my original idea! With no official plans, I sketched out my design and dove in, drawing inspiration from my childhood memories of my dad’s chickens and turkeys. While I'm a white-collar guy by trade, I take pride in my handiwork. The coop isn’t fully finished yet, as I still need to lay down pavers and stones, but my six-week-old chicks are happily settled in their new home—far better than the garage!

| Remodeled my garage and was going to use old cabinets to build a coop. Wife wanted something nicer (I swear it would’ve been good) ended up with this. No plans, just made a sketch and went for it. My dad kept chickens/turkeys growing up so I wasn’t totally green. Happy with how it turned out. I’m a white collar guy so I’m pretty proud of the build. Not really finished, going to lay pavers and stones around it, but it’s done for now. 6 week old chicks finally out of the garage and loving it. Doors warping a little but I’ll take care of it [link] [comments] |
