Why does one chicken have a naked butt?

Our take

Ever wonder why one of your feathered friends struts around with a naked butt? Meet our curious case of a chicken who molted in February, leaving her backside looking a bit bare. As of April 10, it seems her butt feathers have decided to take an extended vacation. While other flock members flaunt their fabulous plumage, this little lady stands out—perhaps a little too much! It's not uncommon for chickens to experience uneven feather regrowth after molting, especially if they’re under stress or not getting the right nutrients. Join us as we explore the quirky world of chicken molting, and let’s see if we can uncover what’s going on with this feathery gal. Check out the pictures and let the cluck-tastic discussions begin!

She molted in February and her butt feathers never came back. First pic is today, April 10, second is mid February. Third is a pic of her and some flock mates in case there’s anything else I’m not noticing. No other birds have any sparseness in their feathers.
