Update on my sick chicken
Our take
Hey fellow chicken lovers! I’m reaching out for some cluck-tastic advice on my sick feathered friend. Good news: both her eyes are open now! However, she’s got some mucus coming from her beak and is a bit of a diva when it comes to being touched. Sometimes she struggles with her breathing, but it’s not constant. I’ve been trying to help her out by giving her some electrolyte water (though she wasn’t thrilled about it) and she’s had a little scrambled egg treat. I’m really hoping she feels better soon, as I’m a bit worried about her. If anyone has tips or advice on what else I can do, I’d be all ears! Thanks for the support, everyone! [link] [comments]

- Need advice: sick chickenFirst picture is yesterday: She was weak, with her eyes closed shut, panting. Gave her electrolytes and vitamins with water via syringe and Ticon S. Second picture is yesterday night: I thought she would pass on her sleep, but she stopped panting and actually started making sounds and slept through the night while repositioning her neck and moving away from the fan that was near her to keep her from panting. Third is today: She’s still fighting, I can feel she’s tired but she moves her head and has stood up to reposition. No eyes opening yet, but she hasn’t had anything to eat today or drink. I tried tempting her to drink with droplets and on her beak but that didn’t work. I’m thinking on doing subcutaneous fluids, not sure yet. Any recommendations? I have no avian vet near me. - Forth update on my sick chicken; she’s better but I’m getting worriedWhat is happening to her? For some context, I let her outside and she was outside for around an hour and a half. I’ve just brought her back in and I’ve fed her some water with some nutrients in it. She’s been doing this all day and I’m not sure what is happening. Hopefully it’s the same as the gargle noise and it’s nothing bad, but I’m just a bit worried. submitted by /u/Shot-Location-4283 [link] [comments]
- 2nd update on my sick chicken (advice always appreciated)I have taken all your advice (given her scrambled eggs, garlic and apple cider vinegar solution in water, salt water, hot water bottle in a pet carrier at night, preventing drafts) and also many more. She has more energy but is still moving slowly and has the need to sleep often. I am trying to get as much food and water down her as possible, her poo is more solid. I’m not sure if it’s just me but does her comb look a little lighter than before too? Another question but should she be laying eggs (she isn’t)? Ok actually last question, how long should I quarantine her before letting her mix with the other chickens (we have 10 in total)? I know nobody asked for this update but here it is if anyone wants to know. As I always say, advice is greatly appreciated and thanks to anyone who has already given advice or words of encouragement!!! submitted by /u/Shot-Location-4283 [link] [comments]
