Got two chickens… turns out they’re both roosters - advice 🙏🏻
Our take

| **UPDATE IN COMMENT SECTION** Hey everyone, I need a bit of help and figured this was the right place to ask. I was gifted what I was told were a rooster and a hen, but it turns out… they’re actually both roosters 😅 I’m still pretty new to all of this, so I didn’t notice right away, but now it’s pretty obvious. I’m attaching photos here could anyone help me figure out what breeds they might be? I’d really appreciate it. Also, I’m a bit concerned about whether they can stay together in the same coop. So far they haven’t done anything too aggressive, but I’ve read mixed things online about keeping two roosters together. On top of that, we’re expecting 10 hens to arrive soon, so I’m wondering if that will help balance things out or potentially make it worse between them. Any advice or insight would really help me out. Thanks a lot 🙏 [link] [comments] |

- Roo or Hen?Hi! We’re first time chicken owners and had gotten three chicks from a straight run batch. We think two may be roosters and the other a hen. They’re hitting their 6 week mark and we’re worried about how the hen will if she’s by herself in the coop. We can’t keep roosters where I’m at but they’ll be relocated to a friend’s farm that is in need of roosters. Are the roosters? 😭 submitted by /u/fayesky [link] [comments]
- The classic question- plus moreI hate to be the one to ask, but do I have 2 roosters? 😅 I suspect I do. I’m not new to being a chicken mom, but I’ve only had a rooster one time and he ended up getting sick and passing away when he was young. I already have an established flock of girls, and a friend needed to rehome these 2 bantams. She was told they were sexed and all female, so I was just going to put them in their own coop and let them do their own thing. So I guess the second part of my question is, if they are both roosters, and getting along so far, should I just continue on like this? Should I add some females? Add another male around the same age so they aren’t lonely? Have just a bachelor pad? I have no experience with this. Thanks! submitted by /u/Odd_Bend487 [link] [comments]
- Trying to work out if my aracunas are Roosters or HensExcuse the bad coop photos. I got these two from a day old, and I'm unsure if they are roosters. I'm 99% sure they both are, but I'm hoping someone who knows their chickens would be able to help me. Based in NZ, as I know, the breed can differ in looks in different countries. submitted by /u/ThrowawayAd5053 [link] [comments]
- I was given a chickenHi, my folks have always loved chickens and recently they stumbled upon a group of mixed chicks for free on marketplace. A two were very sick and one didn’t make it but I managed to nurse one back to health. Little guy follows me everywhere and is very friendly despite what I thought I knew about roosters. My only problem is that I don’t know what kind he is or if he’s mixed. Help would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/unsolved_Rubiks_cube [link] [comments]
