What is wrong with my bird?
Our take

| I’ve never seen a chicken do this in my life… I got a new batch of little ones and I think this is a roster (not 100% sure yet). He is the smallest of 3 potential rosters (the other two im pretty confident are rosters). Yesterday I noticed him doing a strange thing with his neck, his eyes were closed and he was alone(the new gang hang pretty tight). My first thought is he lost a fight and has a broken neck… I checked on him multiple times and he didn’t improve… I figured I’d get the chopping block ready, it’s quick cold in my area and dying slowly in this cold didn’t seem fun. But this morning I went to go get him and he was doing his same old weird neck thing, so I gave him a little poke and up he popped, he wondered over to go eat some food and although his neck was still on an angle he was pecking at food no issue… so I let him be. But still have no clue what’s up with him. [link] [comments] |

- Found dumped/escaped roo with a cut beak? And hole in head?? And maybe a blind eye? People or chicken damagehi! found this dude in my neighborhood. we have feral chickens but they are all in really good shape unlike this new guy. he's got a huge scab on his scalp (presumably from bullying), a literal hole (see last image, it's dry and... deep?), at least one maybe blind eye, and his beak is both cut and it looks like he got the top surface of it shaved down?? (you can see it best on photo 5 I think) I assumed based on all that that he was somebodies. unless a chicken can damage their beak like that by themselves. anyway, he scampered away from me the first time I noticed him Sunday, but he only ran for a few feet before going back to laying down. he has very little energy and could not roost. he can't jump, either. so I grabbed him last night to give him at least some time in a pen with food and water. and I'm glad I did, he didn't have hardly any food in him for the night. he's currently eating and drinking. he isn't crowing at all. which is probably a blessing because Im not allowed roosters where I live. if anyone has any ideas about what life he used to lead, any ideas on what he needs to bounce back, any help at all would be appreciated. not sure what my plan for him long term is, if there is a long term for him. but I'm doing what I can. submitted by /u/ohboybugs [link] [comments]
- Help! Something is wrong with one of my little ladies:(Hello, I’ll start by saying I’m a noob and have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance for any help. So a couple days ago we noticed one of my favorite little chickens was standing kinda funny. Over the past day or so her walk is definitely different and she seems like she’s having trouble getting around. She’s almost straight up when she walks and just doesn’t seem very coordinated or able to do her normal chicken stuff. Anybody know what this is? I want her to be ok so any advice helps. Thanks. submitted by /u/woooowthatwashard [link] [comments]
- Update on sick chickenSo a couple days ago I made a post about my chicken being possibly sick but I wasn’t sure. So far she’s still alive and she’s pretty alert. She eats mushes poultry feed and drinks water, but she can’t walk. She also has a tough time trying to balance, like I notice we have to put her in a certain position for her to stay upright. When she tries to adjust herself, she uses her beak to kind of drag herself, if that makes sense? She still goes to the bathroom but she’s always sleepy. I don’t know why she can’t walk yet, I felt her legs and they are still warm. When we try to get her to walk she just cries and tips foward. It breaks my heart seeing her like this. Can somebody please help me find out what’s wrong with her? I’m trying to help her the best I can but I’m not sure how else to help her. My parents don’t know either and they kind of gave up on her but I haven’t. Please help! Ask me any questions and I’ll answer to the best of my ability. submitted by /u/Frosty-Drive3282 [link] [comments]
- My rooster is not at the top of the pecking order, what do i do?Ok so i have this beautiful Little bantam/serama rooster, i love him with all my heart, he is the light of my life. He is 5 years old. Well, all his life, he was the Alpha rooster, at the top of the pecking order, always beating the rest of the roosters, either small like him or big big. Well, last week, my parents told me that this nacked neck rooster finally beat him. I find IT strange, because this nacked neck was so afraid of my small roo. Now, after my roo was beat by this big guy, he changed so much. He stopped to eat for a couple of days, my parents thought he would die. Hes ok, thanks god. But now my baby is afraid of eberything, tends to be by himself, doesnt spend time with the other chickens. What do i do to fix this? He is suffering, i see this, he is not the Alpha anymore and i need him to be happy and a leader like he always was. Please be kind, i am very scared for his life, i dont want to lose him, i love him so much, he is my pet and my Best friend! Thank You! submitted by /u/lexandrix [link] [comments]
