Found dumped/escaped roo with a cut beak? And hole in head?? And maybe a blind eye? People or chicken damage

Our take

Hey there, fellow chicken enthusiasts! I stumbled upon a rather unfortunate rooster in my neighborhood, and I need your cluck-tastic insights. This poor guy appears to have been dumped or escaped, sporting a cut beak, a deep hole in his head, and what might be a blind eye. Unlike our feral chickens, he’s in rough shape, with a huge scab likely from bullying, and he seems to lack energy—he couldn’t even roost! After a brief chase, I managed to rescue him and provide some food and water, but I’m concerned about his well-being. If anyone has ideas about his past life or tips for helping him bounce back, I’d be forever grateful. Let’s help this feathered friend find his way back to health!

hi! found this dude in my neighborhood. we have feral chickens but they are all in really good shape unlike this new guy. he's got a huge scab on his scalp (presumably from bullying), a literal hole (see last image, it's dry and... deep?), at least one maybe blind eye, and his beak is both cut and it looks like he got the top surface of it shaved down?? (you can see it best on photo 5 I think) I assumed based on all that that he was somebodies. unless a chicken can damage their beak like that by themselves.

anyway, he scampered away from me the first time I noticed him Sunday, but he only ran for a few feet before going back to laying down. he has very little energy and could not roost. he can't jump, either. so I grabbed him last night to give him at least some time in a pen with food and water. and I'm glad I did, he didn't have hardly any food in him for the night.

he's currently eating and drinking. he isn't crowing at all. which is probably a blessing because Im not allowed roosters where I live.

if anyone has any ideas about what life he used to lead, any ideas on what he needs to bounce back, any help at all would be appreciated. not sure what my plan for him long term is, if there is a long term for him. but I'm doing what I can.
