| Hello! I am trying to figure out which of our hens lay which eggs. Some are obvious but we are a little stumped on the different shades of brown. Currently have: 2 x Leghorns 3 x Speckled Sussex 2 x Barred Rock 3 x Easter Eggers. The leghorns are obvious, and 2 of the easter eggers lay green eggs (one lays solid green, the other lays speckled green). I am pretty sure the other easter egger lays the reddish-brown eggs (#5), but I am stumped with #2, #3, and #4. [link] [comments] |

- Olive egger variation?I purchased these chicks a few weeks ago - 2 olive eggers, 2 buff orpingtons. The Olive eggers looked the same until their feathers started coming in, anyone have any ideas why? Was wondering if they could be different crosses perhaps? One has white speckles and pink legs, other is very dark with yellow legs. First two pics are the dark one, second two pics are the speckled one. - Breed IDCould anyone guess what kind of what kind of ancestry does my easter eggers have? No right or wrong answers. Since I have no way of confirming. Just curious what everyone thinks. I got theese gals when they were 1 year old from my sister’s friend (the breeder). Sister no longer has the information card on their ancestry. But here is the information what we have from what she remembers. As well as their appearance Confirmed to have leghorn and Araucana ancestry Eggs very from pinkish to medium brown. Very good egg layers they lay almost every day. Both girls Juniper (white speckled ) and Charlotte (brown speckled) came from same mama (idk what breed though). Both ladies have blue grey feet and have nearly identical feather patterns albeit in different colors. No info on the father though I don’t even know if they have the same father or even came from the same batch I know they’re around the same age. Again this is just for fun. I’m just curious what people think. submitted by /u/Sweet-Able [link] [comments]
- Rainbow Hatch (Pic Dump)Our resident rooster wasn't getting the job done —we only had 1 fertile egg out of 13 in our test run, so we ordered a "Rainbow Pack" of 18 eggs from a breeder, and yesterday was hatch day. We’ve had 14 healthy chicks hatch so far, and the variety is amazing. We got a surprise Lavender Marans and one of our eggs labeled as bresse popped out a blue chick, so we sorted it as an easter egger for now. Figured I would share some pics i took while getting them banded and sorted. The Lineup: Wheaten Ameraucanas: Red and Orange bands Crested Cream Legbars: These guys are auto-sexing, so we already know we have 2M (Blue bands) and 2F (Pink bands). Easter Eggers: Grey and Blue bands Bresse: White and Black bands Lemon Pyle Brahma: Yellow band (Already a absolute unit compared to the others). Marans: Green and Brown for the Black Coppers, and a Clear band for the Lavender Marans! submitted by /u/TysMcK15 [link] [comments]
- Let’s play a game! Match the eggs to the hens (answers in the comments)Number 1: Zelda, the 7 month old golden retriever baby who laid her first egg (and it’s in this picture) Number 2: Olive, the 1.5 year old specialty hatchery breed hen with a great hairdo Number 3: Eevee, the 1 year old mixed-breed hen with a hint to one of her breeds in her poofy neck and her small comb submitted by /u/ThyKnightOfSporks [link] [comments]
