Rainbow Hatch (Pic Dump)
Our take

| Our resident rooster wasn't getting the job done —we only had 1 fertile egg out of 13 in our test run, so we ordered a "Rainbow Pack" of 18 eggs from a breeder, and yesterday was hatch day. We’ve had 14 healthy chicks hatch so far, and the variety is amazing. We got a surprise Lavender Marans and one of our eggs labeled as bresse popped out a blue chick, so we sorted it as an easter egger for now. Figured I would share some pics i took while getting them banded and sorted. The Lineup: Wheaten Ameraucanas: Red and Orange bands Crested Cream Legbars: These guys are auto-sexing, so we already know we have 2M (Blue bands) and 2F (Pink bands). Easter Eggers: Grey and Blue bands Bresse: White and Black bands Lemon Pyle Brahma: Yellow band (Already a absolute unit compared to the others). Marans: Green and Brown for the Black Coppers, and a Clear band for the Lavender Marans! [link] [comments] |

- Breed help? (Update at 11.5 weeks) Hi friends! Me again, so some suspicions have been put to rest, but curious to hear some opinions! Ordered these "girls" from valley hatchery late February, and fairly certain we have all pullets (yay!) The gold laced wyandotte is suspicious to me, but curious to thoughts. Updated photos are attached, but my thoughts are barred rock, buff orpington, brown leghorn, rhode island red, gold laced wyandotte (pullet or cockeral confirm?), Welsummer????, and 3 easter egger/olive egger types. We ordered 6 "rainbow egg layer special" chicks from Valley hatchery and honestly had a really great experience in spite of getting three bonus chicks and having to completely upgrade our homestead set-up 😅 (also bought a much larger coop because chicken math taking effect before receiving our birds was the surprise)! submitted by /u/acooldogdad [link] [comments]
- Our new babies. Breeding project.Out of the 5 of our eggs we incubated, these are the three chicks. One never internally pipped and the other never externally pipped. I had to assist hatch one of these. Unfortunately didn’t catch the 4th in time. BUT! I present our 2 Game Brahma chicks and 1 Gameraucana! For those new here the mothers are a Dark Brahma and a Silver Ameraucana. The father is a green legged gamefowl and BOY are his genes strong because all 3 of these babies look pretty much the same! Only difference is the Game Brahma chicks have feathered legs and the Gameraucana doesn’t. Very cool! Can’t wait to see how they develop and look as they age! The Gameraucana is the one with the little leg band. submitted by /u/Safe_Letterhead543 [link] [comments]
- The gals.I think these are all hens, gave away my two brahmas to a neighbor as a house warming gift when they moved. We have Sassy the Sussex, Quinnen and Clarence the Wyandottes. Gandalf (She's gray and black) and Donny (wife's favorite and loves to be in pictures) the Easter Egger Green Queens. Barb the Barred Plymouth Rock. Reff the Easter Egger, (looks like a BPR but has feathered feet). Chick Jagger the Cuckoo Bluebar Blue Egger. (Mohawk) Fish the Swedish Flower Hen (Swedish fish). Nolzey the Black Australorp. And Olive the Ancona. It was fun but hard building their coop and run, the coop is more insulated than my own house, however I'm glad they are just healthy and outside now. submitted by /u/Pbacon123 [link] [comments]
- First egg of my new Easter egger line I'm breedingThis is the first egg of my own new Line of landrace easter eggers I'm creating. This egg took 1,5 years to make and involved a cross between a schijndelaar x black copper Maran and a Welsummer x Araucana rooster. The f1's where crossed together and made this gorgeous Egg. Can't wait to see what the other chicks will lay submitted by /u/Thomasrayder [link] [comments]
