I got a free chicken
Our take

| This is a buff orpington rooster, he is from last year around july, the people I got him from did not want him and it took him a little while to actually show that he was really a rooster. they were going to cook him but I asked them if I could take him instead, I was wanting a buff orpington rooster anyway to breed to my buff orpington hens, mainly just so I don't have to purchase them again next year. I rotate most of my birds out every 3 years, excluding roosters and ones that are Just Pets or really good Mamas, so this dude needs a name!, I kind of want something that sounds Regal and a little bit medieval. he's kind of going through his dumb phase at the moment so it would be funny if it's something that would suggest he's highly intelligent. - I was given a chickenHi, my folks have always loved chickens and recently they stumbled upon a group of mixed chicks for free on marketplace. A two were very sick and one didn’t make it but I managed to nurse one back to health. Little guy follows me everywhere and is very friendly despite what I thought I knew about roosters. My only problem is that I don’t know what kind he is or if he’s mixed. Help would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/unsolved_Rubiks_cube [link] [comments]
- Hen or Rooster? …. Or both?!Yesterday I posted about my ‘roosters’ head shaking behaviour, and I was told this is actually a hen, or it was intersex, or it was a rooster. I’ve taken some better pictures and I’d love to know your opinion It does not crow, I’ve had it for a week only and prior owner says it attempts to and then goes silent after the first 0.5 seconds of what sound like a crow… It’s extremely protective of the rest of the flock and acts like a rooster, walks around quite up right and dominate. I am told it is a Partridge Laced Wyandotte, I am not sure if it’s cross breed, google shows me that roosters do not come in this colouring, and that wing shape looks hen to me but I am no chicken scientist Thank you! one very confused chicken owner 🧐 submitted by /u/Adept_Count3578 [link] [comments]
- Someone put a random rooster in one of my cages yesterdaySeveral cages outside, if they're cheap I will get them because I get a lot of animals and if someone needs one I will give them a cage, the one that this Rooster's in is my rat's cage after my last one passed away I took it outside to disassemble it and just haven't yet, woke up this morning and someone shoved him in it don't know who don't know why but I guess I have a free rooster to add to my rooster flock submitted by /u/LifeguardComplex3134 [link] [comments]
- chicken breed?Anyone know what breed this fella is? I know absolutely nothing about chickens and work at a horse lesson barn, i think someone dumped her(?) about a week ago. She showed up in one of the pastures with a rooster, but the rooster disappeared and she stuck around. She gets pretty close to us but wont let us pick her up, so I'm assuming she's been around people before. I think my coworker owns chickens at her own farm and brought chicken food for us to give her, but i was curious on what she was lol. I think once we can manage to pick her up, the coworker with chickens was gonna try integrating her into their home group of chickens so she isn't just alone here. She doesn't seem to mind being on her own at least, she's befriended most of our horses lol. Thanks in advance if anyone knows anything about what she is! submitted by /u/SeveralTry3967 [link] [comments]
