Extreme bald patches. I need an expert!
Our take
Oh no, it sounds like your feathered friends are experiencing some serious bald patches! While they might be struttin’ around and laying eggs like champs, those sparse feathers can raise a few eyebrows. There are a couple of culprits that could be causing this poultry predicament. Pecking order drama can lead to some fowl play among your girls, while nutritional imbalances might also be to blame. Even with a protein-packed diet, other nutrients could be missing. And let’s not forget about those pesky mites that might be hiding in plain sight! With nine chickens in the mix, it’s worth investigating all angles. Let’s dive into the feathered mystery and help your girls flaunt their plumage again!

| Please help! Our girls are really bald. Its gotten bad and I don't know why? They are all acting totally normal and laying eggs daily but they look terrible. We've deep cleaned their coop multiple times and checked the girls for mitts but we don't see anything. Could it be a bad pecking order or nutrients (eating 20% protein feed) or mits that I can't see? We have 9 chickens and this has been going on for a long time. [link] [comments] |
