Baby chick is quiet

Our take

Hello, fellow chicken enthusiasts! It sounds like your little feathered friend is enjoying her cozy naps a bit too much. While it's perfectly normal for baby chicks to spend plenty of time sleeping and eating, a quiet demeanor and droopy tail can raise a few eyebrows. At around four weeks old, she’s still in her early stages of life, and it’s not uncommon for chicks to have varying energy levels. However, if she’s not foraging or engaging with her surroundings, it might be worth keeping an eye on her. Regarding her breed, Easter Eggers and English hens can look quite similar at this age, but let’s dive into the details and help you figure it all out.

Baby chick is quiet

Hi everyone,

My baby chick is eating and sleeping but sleeping a lot during the day and is quiet.

She sleeps during the day too and doesn’t seem to want to forage.

I don’t see anything visibly wrong with her.

I don’t know exactly how old she is but I am going to guess 4 weeks.

Should I be concerned that she is sleeping a lot?

Is she also an Easter egger or an English hen?

Does anyone know her breed or estimate age please?

I did notice when she is standing her tail is droopy abit. Is that anything to worry about?

Thank you for helping me.
