I'm posting this for a college assignment where we need critiques of the itinerary we put together for a trip to Iceland. The scenario is that we're a tour guide company who plans itineraries for customers.
We aren't taking price into consideration and some spelling might be wrong.
Day 1: Arrive!!
Keflavik airport in Reykjanes
Day to chill out and walk around town with remaining time from flight landing.
Sleep: in Reykjavik
Dinner: provided
Day 2: Fly Fishing
Breakfast provided in Reykjavik
Fly fishing in the River Hola (7-9 hrs)
Drive: ~1 hr drive (one way)
Sleep: stay in Reykjavik another night
Dinner: Go on your own
Day 3: Skogafoss Waterfall
Breakfast provided in Reykjavik again
Drive from Reykjavik (~2 hrs)
Hike for waterfalls (11 miles round trip)
Drive to Vik, Iceland (30 min from Skogafoss)
Sleep: in the town of Vik
Dinner: on your own
Day 4: Glacier Lagoon Tour, Black Sand Beaches
Breakfast on your own in Vik
Drive to Jokulsaron for the glacier lagoon tour (2 hrs, 17 mins)
Stop at the Mossy Lava Fields (Just looking around, should only take an hour max)
Glacier lagoon tour (1.5 hours)
Drive to Hofn (1 hour drive)
Explore black sand beaches near Hofn
Stay in Hofn
Dinner provided in Hofn
Day 5: Horseback Riding
Breakfast on your own in Eilsstadir
Drive to Eilsstadir from Hofn (3 hours)
Horseback riding through the mountains (1-2 hours) or exploring local farms?
Stay in Eilsstadir
Dinner
Day 6: Whale watching
Drive Eilsstadir to Husavik (3 hour drive)
Whale watching in Husavik ( 3 hours)
Explore Husavik independently for the night (i.e, geothermal pools, whale museums)
Day 7: Travel day/pools
Drive Husavik to Borgarnes (4.75 hour drive)
Stop at Deildartunguhver
Stay in Borgarnes
Day 8: Solar Eclipse
Breakfast on own
Go to scenic spot on coast near Reykjavik to watch eclipse
Group meal for lunch
Dinner on own
Optional night out in Reykjavik
Day 9: Leave 🙁
Flights out of Reykjavik
