Neighbor's noisy rooster is an early riser.

When we purchased our acreage our neighbors had hens. About 2 weeks before we moved into our new home they added a rooster to their flock. He is a gorgeous buff orpington. They told me that they bought him to protect the hens from predators. Now I've had hens before and I've got horses, in other words I'm used to livestock. The problem is that their chicken coop is about 50 feet from our bedroom window and I've heard this boy crowing before 5 am in the winter. Summer is now approaching and we are going to want to sleep with our windows open and would prefer to not be woken up at 4 a.m. Is it unreasonable for me to want to ask them to please lock him up at night?

I should add that when they asked us to turn off our patio lights at night so that they could see the northern lights we gladly obliged.
