Just wanted to post my experience being a tourist in Jordan during the middle of east conflict. The first day I landed - not gonna lie but the sirens and sounds of rockets throughout the day was very jarring and scary for me. But the locals were pretty calm about it as they’d been used to it for about 3 years. I was ready to find the next flight out but thankfully the temp ceasefire happened and I haven’t heard any sirens since. Hoping the war ends soon since it’s really taking a toll on the tourism industry here. I did a Petra/Wadi Rum/Aqaba 2 day tour and I had my own personal tour guide. Most of the sites too were pretty quiet apart from a few locals and a smattering of brave tourists.

I found the people to be very kind and personable and wanted to get to know me as own of the first tourists they’d seen in a while.

If you want to get here without having to worry about flights getting cancelled, Royal Jordanian rarely will cancel their flight these days unless the airspace is actually shut down.
