This is our first time with chickens!

Our take

Welcome to our cluck-tastic adventure into the world of chickens! Meet our feathered friends—who are currently cozying up in our garage while we figure out this whole chicken-keeping thing. We might be winging it, but we’ve consulted a few chicken experts to ensure the girls have everything they need: food, clean water, and warmth. We’re also in the process of building a super-secure coop to keep those pesky predators like coyotes, foxes, and raccoons at bay. As we navigate this new chapter in coastal NC, our kids can’t help but shower the chickens with love (and kisses). Here’s hoping they don’t catch any chicken-related germs! Join us on this egg-citing journey as we learn, laugh, and cluck our way through chicken ownership!

Meet the girls. We have no idea what we're doing. We consulted a few chicken experts so the girls have food, clean water, warmth, are living in the garage, and we are in-process of building a coop. We are in coastal NC and are having a 6ft fence put in to help deter predators in the future. We are building a heavily reinforced coop so the coyotes and foxes (and raccoons) can't dig under.

I just wanted to share that this is our first time and we are a little nervous. Our kids keep kissing them so I'm sure they're going to have salmonella or something now (the kids - not the chickens).
