As they gain confidence and experience, you can expect their egg size to gradually increase. It sounds like your older cinnamon queens are setting the bar high, but rest assured, your Rhode Island Reds will catch up in no time! I have some Rhode Island Red hens that are just starting to lay their first eggs. They are much smaller than I expected. Are the first several generally small, or do my girls have something going on? Can I expect the to gain size over time? I have a few older cinnamon queens who are still laying great sized eggs so I don’t believe it to be a nutrition or environment issue.
