Meet our feathered friend, the little runt with a limp! This season, I decided to expand my flock, bringing home 30 assorted breed chicks. Among them was this petite chick, who, according to the seller, is the offspring of a single Brahma. While her sisters are growing like weeds, she seems to be lagging behind in both size and confidence. After moving her to a cozy container with another smaller chick to avoid being trampled, I noticed her limp. I’m unsure if it’s a simple injury needing a splint or a sign of nutritional issues. My wife thinks she may have always had a wobbly gait. Any advice or insights on how to help her thrive would be much appreciated!
We stepped our flock size up a bit this year and I've been fortunate to have no maladies (unless you want to call stray dogs a plague) until this season. Picked up 30 3-week assorted breed chicks and this little runt was in with them. The lady I got them from said the sire was a single brahma, and she had all sorts on her pasture. This one was small, she doesn't seem to be growing as fast as her sisters. I moved her into this container with the next smallest chick because she was getting trampled andnkept back from feed, and now I'm noticing she's got a limp. I didn't know if this looked like an injury that I just need to tape/splint, or if this has any telltale signs I'm not used to seeing of missing nutrition. My wife said she couldn't be certain but that she thinks that this one has always had the wobbly gait. In any case, any insight would be very welcome.

- What’s wrong with my roosters leg 😢For context, he started limping about a year ago and slowly, I noticed his leg got swollen. He would limp a bit, but it was manageable. Eventually, it started swelling up, even thicker to the point you see now and he is at the point he doesn’t even use it at all. I thought maybe it was broken and had kept him isolated in a place in the coop where he could not jump up on anything for a month or so, but that doesn’t seem to help. - My Brahma is limpingMy sweet Fern started limping a couple of days ago, it wasn’t that noticeable at first but today when I went to let them out of the run she was lagging behind so i called her and she was hopping on one foot so I picked her up and brought her inside to investigate and I don’t see any obvious signs of injury or infection. At the moment I have her in a tub filled with a couple of inches of warm water and epsom salt and she seems super content. She freaked out (of course) when I grabbed her with a towel and flipped her upside down to look at her feet and take pictures for you guys… but if someone could help that would be greatly appreciated. - Help! 13-day-old chick suddenly lost ability to walk overnight - trauma or something else?My 13-day-old Light Brahma chick suddenly stopped walking properly starting night of day 12. First time chicken owner and really worried. Symptoms She can’t support her own weight and keeps sitting down. When she does walk, it’s a slow squatting waddle and she spreads her wings to balance. When she stretches her legs out, her toes go completely limp with no muscle strength at all, and curl loosely when she brings them back. No permanent toe curling at rest though, and no visible swelling or deformity anywhere. Eyes are bright and alert, still eating and drinking normally. Isolated her from the flock this morning. Setup 13 days old, indoor brooder, 80x50cm plastic bin with 6 chicks total. Pine shavings bedding, red heat lamp, Purina Start & Grow Medicated (18% protein, has Riboflavin in ingredients). Possible cause A larger suspected-male Buff Orpington has been repeatedly jumping on the backs of the other chicks. Not sure if this is related. Questions What does this sound like?
