- Is this pasty butt?!?I just got chicks yesterday, I checked when I got them and all their butts looked fine. This morning I checked again, this one chick has some poo stuck. Is that the kind that I need to remove, if so how? I think they aren’t in great shape, unfortunately their heat plate went out overnight so they were chilled this morning. - What is going on here and what do I do?Hey everyone, I noticed something was going on with my chicken’s butt today but I don’t know what it is. Any ideas? I gave her butt a soak in some warm water with epsom salts and tried to trim the feathers back to get a better look, but unfortunately my scissors were pretty dull, so hopefully you can see it from the pictures. I tried to massage it and it seems mostly fluid filled and squishy but there may be some hardness as well on the underside. Her vent looks clear, the area in question is a few inches below it. She is not lethargic and seems to be acting normally. Barb is a buff Orpington who is slightly over 4 years old and would love to be in tip top shape again soon. - Chick acting strangeI’ve had these 4 chicks since Easter. They’ve all been acting normally, but this one (I think is a Cream Legbar) is drinking fine, but she’s not eating, and she’s standing upright and peeping nonstop. She’s drinking by herself though. She had pasty butt for about 2 days before I cleaned it. I thought she would act normal after that, but she’s been like this for another 2 days, even after I cleaned her butt. She also doesn’t react to my hand, she huddles up against me and peeps. At first I thought it was malnutrition, so I gave her some olive oil with a pipette about 20 hours ago since it’s got a fat and calories. She still acting weird.
