Pros and cons of owning chickens

Our take

Thinking about adding a flock of feathered friends to your family? Chickens can be a cluck-tastic addition, especially with a little one who could learn about responsibility through their care. However, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons realistically. While fresh eggs and playful personalities can bring joy to your home, your husband raises valid concerns about the commitment involved. Chickens require daily attention, including morning and evening care, which might limit spontaneous overnight trips. But fear not! With the right setup, chickens can be a manageable outdoor pet. Join the conversation to explore shared experiences, potential challenges, and insights you might not have considered before making the leap into chicken ownership! Your thoughts and experiences are welcome!

Title says it. I want chickens, my husband doesn't. I want us to look at this from a realistic view. We have a 1 year old daughter and I feel like having simple chickens will teach her responsibilities. Cant have dogs or cats inside. Outdoor animal ok. And I think a chicken would be fun. Having some eggs sound fun. Husband said we wouldn't be able to go out on overnight trips anymore since chickens need to be let in and out of their nests morning and night.

Tell me yours thoughts and experiences and other things we might not have considered.
