please can someone help me figure out what this is!
Our take
Oh no! It sounds like you’re facing a cluck-tastrophe with your favorite feathered friend. It’s always alarming when our chickens show sudden changes in behavior, especially when they’re not eating and seem off. Isolating her was a wise move to keep any potential issues from spreading, but I totally understand your worry. Chickens can be resilient, but they can also be surprisingly delicate, and it’s tough to see them unwell. While it’s easy to jump to conclusions about viruses, there are various factors at play, from stress to dietary issues. Let’s rally the community to share insights and remedies! Together, we can help you figure out what’s going on and hopefully get your beloved chicken back to her clucky self in no time!

| one of my chickens randomly looks like this today and is not eating. as of now they are in a separate slightly smaller coop area. I am worried I get deeply attached to my chickens and this is my favorite one I really don't want to lose her. I assume it's some kind of virus but other than isolating them and trying to find a medication I don't know what to do or how much time I have left. (yesterday she looked completely fine and was acting normal all of this is from today.) [link] [comments] |

- I need helpHi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on one of my hens. She’s a female, just about a year old, and recently I’ve noticed she’s not looking as well as the rest of my flock. Her comb is a bit darker than the others, and there seems to be some mild swelling in her face along with small speckles on it. Behavior-wise, she’s definitely off. She tends to stay away from the roosters and avoids any related interactions, sits puffed up in the corner a lot, and isn’t very active. When I come near, she runs to me, tries to hide, and wants to be picked up constantly. She just doesn’t seem like she’s thriving the way she used to. She is still showing interest in food and water and appears to be eating and drinking normally. For context: • The rest of the flock appears completely healthy • No signs of mites or lice • I recently treated the flock for coccidiosis (another hen had it) • I’ve checked her feathers and vent thoroughly and didn’t find anything abnormal initially. (more on this later in the post.) • I also recently had another hen isolated for a possible respiratory infection and wry neck I’d appreciate any guidance possible. She’s quite special to me. And I will do whatever I can to help her. Please help. Recent update….. I isolated her from the flock and started her on some basic vitamins, vitamin E B12 and selenium as well as antibiotics. She’s on day 5 and today a few days ago I noticed she was pulling feathers out on her side upon further inspection. This is what the irritated area looks like…. I have since put a makeshift onesie on her out of a sock to keep her from accessing the area. But she doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I know she’s bothering the little green tag on her ankle, it’s there for identification purposes. It’s already removed. submitted by /u/NoCupcake7450 [link] [comments]
- help!!!Help! My chicken pop tart started showing weird symptoms today. One of her eyes will not fully open and she is wobbling and unable to walk straight. On top of that she is unable to eat (she tries but then drops it) but is drinking normally I’ve added probiotics and recover 911. I’ve noticed some drooling and also a small bump next to her nose which may be hard to see in the picture. I want to note that I bought her and her sister through an add on craigslist. After the 30 day separation for my original flock, i finally integrated them and they started showing signs of Coryza which then infected my initial flock. I’ve given them antibiotics for the past seven days to alleviate the symptoms and it helped all of my flock it seems. ***I do not plan on introducing any more chickens or selling my chickens given their sickness and I am not culling them unless they appear to be in extreme pain that I cannot fix. submitted by /u/Sizzlestixs [link] [comments]
