Our neighbors chicken got into our yard and our dog got it
Our take
Oh no! It sounds like you've found yourself in a cluck-tastrophe! While you're not chicken owners, it’s understandable to feel a bit flustered when a feathered friend unexpectedly wanders into your yard. First things first, let’s check on that chicken—make sure it’s safe and comfortable while you wait for your neighbor to respond. If it seems injured, gentle handling is key; try to keep it calm and avoid further stress. While you’re waiting, reaching out to a local animal rescue or veterinarian can provide guidance. They might have tips on how to care for the little one or even help with its safe return. Remember, accidents happen, and you’re doing your best to be a good neighbor!
Hi, we aren’t chicken owners but our backyard neighbors have chickens (our yard is separated by a fence). The neighbors extended the fence up in some spots but not all of them and one of their chickens just got into our yard and our dog tried to play with it (roughly). The chicken is still alive but seems injured and our neighbor isn’t answering texts so we don’t know what to do with it?? Any advice?? We feel so bad

- Dog got ahold of my chicken…So today the worst thing happened and I feel so so awful. I have six 12ish week old chickens, it’s my first flock of my own. Lately they keep escaping the run even after I have raised the fencing and clipped their wings. I have no idea how they are doing it. I also have 7 dogs. I ALWAYS walk out and check to make sure none of the chickens have escaped their run (it’s 350sq ft and has 4ft fencing all around) before letting the dogs out and I stand and watch them while they run around. Today I forgot to grab a water, it’s hot here in Arizona so I walked back inside for 30 seconds to grab some. I go to walk back out and somehow one of my dogs has one of my girls. She seems physically fine other than some tail feathers being ripped out. She’s walking and eating and drinking but I’m still SO worried and I feel so awful that I took my eyes off the dogs for even a second. Is there anything I should be looking out for involving like internal injuries or shock? Picture of Clover after the fact. And the criminal in question. >:( sorry for the long post it’s kind of a vent. 🥲 submitted by /u/Hphzrdlylvng [link] [comments]
