NSFW: INFECTION? What is going on with my chicken??
Our take
I came back from a trip a few days ago (i had my friend take care of the birds), and today I noticed a small scab beneath my favorite chicken Rusty’s wing. So, i picked her up to look at it, and I happened to lift up her wing and THE ENTIRE area under her wing was scabbed/infected..
other details:
-Rusty is a chicken pretty low on the pecking order, so she currently lives with my small flock of turkeys.
-I have never seen any aggression between her and the turkeys (i have a camera on them, i was even checking them while i was away. i’m aware i can’t see everything that happens though)
-I already put her in a separate cage in a warm spot in the barn. We are already applying Hen Healer and disinfectants
-the other wing is totally fine
-My friend who took care of them never noticed any bleeding, and I didn’t either.
Thanks so much for the assistance with helping her! What do you think this could be? I’m totally at a dead end right now.

- Sick chickenMy two year old Blondie has been acting sick today. She didn’t want to come off the roost this morning so after an hour we got her down and inspected her. No signs of injury, egg bound, vent looks good. Found her hiding in the bushes a few hours later so I brought her into quarantine and that’s when I noticed she sounded hoarse. Her poop is very watered down she’s a little lethargic but she’s still walking about but she isn’t running to me like she usually does she’s still eating and drinking but she’s drinking a lot more water i didn’t notice any symptoms until a day ago. I also noticed her feet have scabs on them but it doesn’t seem like bumble foot and it’s only on her back toes I also checked her duct and it has poop on the feathers around it but her duct itself looks fine no redness or swelling she is an older chicken pushing 4 years old submitted by /u/relentlessfag [link] [comments]
