Normal behavior?

Our take

Hey there, fellow chick enthusiast! It sounds like your baby chicks are displaying some adorable and curious behaviors on your lap and in your hands. Chicks often enjoy snuggling and may be seeking comfort or warmth from you. As for the dust bath idea, it’s possible they’re just testing the waters—or, in this case, the sand! While coarse sand is great for dust bathing, they might prefer a finer texture or a mix of materials to satisfy their bathing instincts. And about that feed scattering situation, try using a feeder designed to minimize spillage or one with a cover to keep their food contained. Let’s keep the conversation going and share our tips for happy, clucky lives with our feathered friends! 🐥✨
Normal behavior?
Normal behavior?

My baby chicks have done this quite a bit and I wasn't sure what behavior this is and if it's normal. They usually do it on my lap or in my hands. I thought that maybe they want a dust bath, but they never seem to do it when they're in the coarse sand that I got for them. Should I be providing something different for them? Also if anyone has any tips for getting their baby chicks to not scratch all of their feed out of their food container would be greatly appreciated! 😅
