My chicks started hatching today. One of them has three legs.
Our take
Today marks a memorable milestone in my chicken-raising journey as my chicks have started hatching! Among the adorable peeps, I discovered one little miracle— a chick with three legs! This unexpected surprise has left me completely shocked. I’ve raised countless feathered friends before, but I’ve never encountered anything quite like this. The little guy seems healthy and lively, which brings me some relief, but I can’t help but wonder how this happened. Is there anything I can do to support him as he grows? If you’ve ever navigated a unique chick situation or have insights to share, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s cluck together and figure out how to give this special chick the best chance at life!

- Need help with new chick!I got 10 chicks today in the mail. They all seem great expect for this little guy. He was drinking and eating about an hour ago but seemed a little more clumsy than the others. I just came and checked on him and he was laying upside down in the shavings. Doesn’t seem to be doing too good. You think it’s a lost cause? Any ideas on how I can help? submitted by /u/Gravitys_Bitch [link] [comments]
- Is this normal? This is my first time hatching chicks, and this one has a very round butt to the point its legs are having trouble staying beneath it. Is this normal and I just missed it on the other 3? Or is something wrong? submitted by /u/Emotional-Bed-6774 [link] [comments]
- Day old chick only flops to one sideWe just hatched some chicks and ever since this guy came out of his egg he just stays flopped to one side (right side). He doesn’t like being forced to lay on his other side and doesn’t really use his right leg at all. He won’t eat but I can get him to take a couple drops of water. He’s maybe 24 hours old now. Currently he’s separated from his siblings cause they just trample him and walk all over him. I’m not sure what to do from here. I’ve been trying to just keep him upright for now. He moves around and peeps occasionally but doesn’t walk submitted by /u/liquidscience89 [link] [comments]
