hen seeming overly tired?
Our take
Is your hen feeling a bit under the weather? It sounds like your feathered friend might be facing some challenges! With less smooth feathers, sluggishness, and a droopy tail, it’s understandable that you’re worried. Moving can be stressful for chickens, and it may take a toll on some more than others. While she’s still eating and drinking, her lack of movement and consistent signs of heat could indicate she’s not adjusting well to her new environment. It’s crucial to keep a close eye on her behavior and symptoms. If she doesn’t perk up soon, consulting a vet who specializes in poultry could help uncover what's going on. Remember, your concern is valid, and you’re not alone in navigating these clucky conundrums!

| can someone tell me whats wrong with her? Her feathers look less smooth than normal and she isn’t walking, if i pick her up and set her down, she will maybe walk two steps and slowly sits down again. Shes been eating and drinking but not moving well, tail down, and looking hot consistently. I did recently move and brought her and two other chickens but shes the only one that doesn’t look healthy and normal. Shes been resilient for such a long time that now that shes looking weak im worried im racing the clock against something i cant even diagnose in time. [link] [comments] |

- Help! Something is wrong with one of my little ladies:(Hello, I’ll start by saying I’m a noob and have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance for any help. So a couple days ago we noticed one of my favorite little chickens was standing kinda funny. Over the past day or so her walk is definitely different and she seems like she’s having trouble getting around. She’s almost straight up when she walks and just doesn’t seem very coordinated or able to do her normal chicken stuff. Anybody know what this is? I want her to be ok so any advice helps. Thanks. submitted by /u/woooowthatwashard [link] [comments]
- Not sure what’s happening in my coop. I have two chickens that look like they don’t feel well and recently lost a chicken who looked the same way. Is there anything I can do?She’s just sitting on the ground not wanting to move much. When she did stand up, her bottom was tucked under. submitted by /u/Sweet_Transitions [link] [comments]
- Is this chick alright? This batch of chicks hatched late February and are around 7 weeks old. I dont live at home but i come every weekend to take care of the animals and make my moms life a little easier. This is also our first batch of chicks ever (we’ve had chickens for over 11 years 😅 we got new hens last December after the old ones passed away) and they all seem to be very healthy except for this one. Its been about 3 weeks since i noticed her struggling to keep her balance and when she fell she sometimes had a hard time getting up and needed a helping hand to get up, she walks slowly and carefully, shes almost always shivering and is under the heat lamp the most. She does drink, eat normally and her poop also looks normal. And recently she hasnt been falling as often but she still seems to be really cold and we’ve done pretty much everything we can to make it warmer for her. submitted by /u/Separate_Regular259 [link] [comments]
- What’s wrong with my HenMy chicken sally has always held her head slightly tilted and squinted. The last day or two it’s been really extreme though. She still comes and finds us when we enter the run and likes to be held. But she seems like she can’t see very well and isn’t using her wings submitted by /u/PinkFeatheredChick [link] [comments]
