Hen on strike??
Our take
Is your feathered friend staging a protest? If you’ve noticed your starlight green egger hasn’t laid an egg in over a year, you’re not alone! Many chicken keepers encounter a similar situation. After her initial laying phase last year, it seems she decided to take a permanent vacation while the rest of your flock is back to their egg-citing routine—well, except for that broody Maran, of course! And to add to the confusion, you might’ve even heard her trying to crow, which is a whole other mystery. So, what can you do to coax her back into action? Let’s dive into this cluck-tastic conundrum and explore ways to encourage her to resume her egg-laying duties! Share your experiences and tips!
My hen (starlight green egger) has not laid eggs for a year. I got her as a chick last Feb and she started laying last year, then I let the hens take the winter production off and she has not started laying again.
My other hens have started up production again as usual (except for my broody maran 🙄)
Also I swear I heard her trying to crow.
Has anyone else had a hen that just stopped laying? Can I do anything to get her laying again?
