Do better

Our take

Raising chickens can be an egg-citing journey, but it’s crucial to approach it with the right knowledge and commitment. As someone who has raised and hatched chickens for nearly 30 years, I’ve noticed an alarming trend in the community post-COVID: a surge of new chicken enthusiasts who may not fully grasp the responsibilities involved. Pictures of small brooders with heat lamps too close or non-existent, along with chicks living in poor conditions, are becoming all too common. With a wealth of information available online, there’s really no excuse for these oversights. It’s time for all of us to do better for our feathered friends and ensure they thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Let’s cluck-tivate a community of informed chicken keepers!

The amount of pictures I see of small brooders, heat lamps way to close or non existent, chicks and chickens living in poor conditions the list goes on. With all the information available online and on here there is no excuse. I’ve raised and hatched chickens for almost 30 years now and it seems post COVID it’s what everyone wants to do. Raising anything requires knowledge and commitment and from some of the pictures I see in here it’s severely lacking in someone of you.
