Today, I embarked on a cluck-tastic adventure in coop enrichment! I transformed an old wooden ladder into a whimsical perch setup, suspended on bungees right above the coop door in their run. To my surprise, my feathered friends—Queenie, Ginny, Lettie, and Evie—quickly claimed it as their own playground! Watching them explore, balance, and interact with their new setup has been one of the most rewarding parts of raising these quirky chicks. Each day brings new discoveries and personality traits to the surface, from Queenie’s vigilant neighborhood watch to Ginny’s tiny goth charm. I’m eager to hear about your coop enrichment ideas too! Built a little enrichment/perch setup for the chicks today using an old wooden ladder suspended on bungees above the coop door inside their run 😅

Honestly I wasn’t sure if they’d trust it right away but within no time all four girls were lined up together like they owned the place.

I’m really trying to focus on giving them things to explore, balance on, climb, scratch through, and interact with while they grow up. Watching them figure things out and develop their little personalities has been one of the most unexpectedly rewarding parts of raising chickens.

• Evie = feather-footed dinosaur
