Red mite invasion

Our take

Hey, fellow chicken lovers! So, I recently faced a red mite invasion that turned my coop from cluck-tastic to chaotic! After a family emergency kept me away, my husband did his best to manage the flock, but those pesky red mites had other plans. I tackled the coops with Exzolt and Smite, and they’re finally mite-free! However, my shed is another story. Despite smoke-bombing it multiple times, I’m convinced those little critters are hiding in the roof felt. I know a thorough clean-out is crucial, but I’m feeling a bit freaked out! Should I invest in a paint suit from B&M to keep them at bay, or is burning the shed a viable option? Help a sister out! 😅

Hi all...so... I had a red mite infestation last year. I went away for a few weeks for a family emergency and, whilst my husband kept everybody fed and watered and poo-picked, he was completely oblivious to the red mites slowly taking over my coops and shed (where I had some juveniles that were put out on grass daily).

I got exzolt and smite for the coops, they're in the clear and will be kept up on.

My problem is the shed. I smoke bombed it a few times last year, and already once this spring. The whole shed needs a clear out and sprayed down, although I'm sure they're under the roof felt, too.

Any ideas how I can do this? Are the holes on a cheap paint suit from B&M small enough to keep the mites off me? I'm absolutely freaked out and have also considered burning the whole shed, but I do have things I'd like to keep in there. lol. 😅
