Can’t walk, bloody stool
Our take
Oh no! It sounds like you’re dealing with a very clucky situation. If your feathered friend can’t walk and has bloody stools, it’s natural to feel concerned. From what you’ve described, it seems like your chicken is having a tough time. The inability to stand, especially after a recent attempt, combined with bloody stools, could indeed suggest a health issue like coccidiosis, which is common in chickens. This parasitic infection can cause severe gastrointestinal distress. It’s crucial to monitor other symptoms and ensure your chicken stays hydrated. Sharing experiences can be incredibly helpful, so let’s cluck together and see if anyone else has faced a similar situation. Your chicken deserves all the love and care during this challenging time!
Anyone experienced where a chicken cannot walk and has bloody stools?
My chicken is in a makeshift chicken hospital bed and he tried to standup after we fed and gave him water yesterday, but he couldn’t stand for more than a 2 seconds
Now he cannot stand at all. Its been about 35 hours since he’s been unable to stand and about 2 hours since he had a bloody stool
Im starting to suspect its coccidiosis(?)

- Update: Chicken still sick, can’t walk or stand. She can perchMy poor Pickles went to the vet, laid an egg, (I thought she was egg bound), she’s been getting around the clock care in quarantine, but she still can’t walk, she can perch on a dowel, but that’s it. She is eating at least one scrambled egg a day, not really drinking but if I string water over her beak she drinks. Her poops looked normal this morning, yesterday they were mixed, some normal, some watery. It’s been 6 days of this. WTH?? This is her little set up. Any ideas? submitted by /u/LemonyFresh108 [link] [comments]
- Cocciodosis - JUST bought chickensWe got our chickens yesterday, 5. From a farm that apparently fully treated them with vaccines and anti parasites. One has bloody stools, including just watery blood. I’ve called the farm- no answer and I cannot find Amprolium ( located in Quebec Canada) ANYWHERE. Been to pet stores and a vet. What do we do!? submitted by /u/Raspberrybeez [link] [comments]
