Any advice integrating new chickens?
Our take
Integrating new chickens into your existing flock can feel like a high-stakes game of fowl play, but fear not! With a little planning and some cluck-tastic strategies, you can help your three new chicks settle in smoothly with your current five feathered friends. Start by creating a safe space for the newcomers, where they can get to know each other without too much stress. Gradually introduce them to the flock through supervised interactions, keeping a watchful eye for any pecking order squabbles. Remember, patience is key! With time, your chicks will find their place in the coop, and you’ll be well on your way to a harmonious, egg-citing chicken family. Happy integrating!
I have 3 chicks that I will need to integrate into my existing flock of 5 soon. I have never had to do this before so looking for the best way to proceed. any advice appreciated.

- How to introduce new chickens to chicken flock?!So we have three roosters and one hen (1st pic) that are 1 year old. We bought 9 more pullets this month (hoping all are hens this time 🤞🏼🤦🏻♀️). We’ve never had to do an introduction before. We’d obviously wait until the chicks are older and have all of their feathers.. but HOW should we introduce!? submitted by /u/zenojonez [link] [comments]
- IntegrationHello everyone! We have some teenage Heritage Rhode Island’s that have been separated in a dog kennel side by side with rest of our flock for the past 5 days. I really want to integrate them as I have the next 4 days off to monitor them. Would it be possible to start this today? Or should I wait a bit longer? Also, do I HAVE to do this process at night or can I just open the kennel and monitor? Thoughts ? These teenagers are HUGE so I’m not worried about their size. The chickens of our existing flock aren’t too big of bullies either. submitted by /u/Hungry-Mix-283 [link] [comments]
- Introducing new birdsI have two hens coparenting a couple of chicks they hatched. I have two new, young chickens I want to outbid the same coop/run with them. Will they be okay with that? Or when would be the best time to combine them? submitted by /u/SpinachReasonable262 [link] [comments]
