Angry rooster
Our take

| So this is my darling little boy, he was born in October 2025 and has just begun to crow and call out to the chicks when he finds food. So he's pretty young. Now here's the problem, he's starting to peck me without pretty much any warning, he doesn't fluff up his neck feathers or anything. He just walks up to me sometimes and bam, I have a new bruise or wound on my hand. Now heres the thing, he was the only one of 30 chicks we hatched and he imprinted on us because we were the only things he knew as parents before the other chicks after him hatched. I really want him to stop this behaviour because if he continues to attack.. I don't know what to do with him. So I tried to carry him around or hold him on the ground but hes still pecking somehow.. please help. I really don't want this to get worse. :/ [link] [comments] |

- Neighbours rooster is very aggressive & attacks me.My neighbours got a rooster recently, he has been coming over to my hens ever since, he basically lives here now and despite many efforts he will not move back to their land. Multiple of their birds have ended up moving into our paddock so this isn’t unusual for us but their rooster is very aggressive, he will stalk me, charge at me from behind, jump at me, aggressively peck me and has made me bleed several times. He mated with our hens and we have fertilised eggs. He also attacks our hens occasionally. My mother is now afraid to go out to our paddock and he is causing a lot of trouble for us since I can barely walk without having him lunge & attack me. I’ve been keeping hens for 13 years but have only had 1 rooster prior, he was perfectly relaxed around humans contrary to this one. I’m not afraid around him but this isn’t okay and I don’t want it to continue. I can’t safely pick him up without gloves because he will go for my hands + he is a large bird. I use sticks to create a barrier between me and him and if he attacks me I walk in towards him to try and assert dominance. It has not been successful. My neighbours do not seem to care much about their chickens, they have an automatic closing system on their coops that often closes far too early. They are frequently killed by foxes and their kids behave abusively towards the birds (stamping, kicking, spraying them with hose pipes on jet-mode). Somebody else in my household has reported the rooster’s behaviour to them and they were dismissive. Any help is appreciated. Edit: my paddock has a public footpath connected to it so he is a risk to the public as well as my family & my hens. submitted by /u/StribrneNebe [link] [comments]
- My rooster is not at the top of the pecking order, what do i do?Ok so i have this beautiful Little bantam/serama rooster, i love him with all my heart, he is the light of my life. He is 5 years old. Well, all his life, he was the Alpha rooster, at the top of the pecking order, always beating the rest of the roosters, either small like him or big big. Well, last week, my parents told me that this nacked neck rooster finally beat him. I find IT strange, because this nacked neck was so afraid of my small roo. Now, after my roo was beat by this big guy, he changed so much. He stopped to eat for a couple of days, my parents thought he would die. Hes ok, thanks god. But now my baby is afraid of eberything, tends to be by himself, doesnt spend time with the other chickens. What do i do to fix this? He is suffering, i see this, he is not the Alpha anymore and i need him to be happy and a leader like he always was. Please be kind, i am very scared for his life, i dont want to lose him, i love him so much, he is my pet and my Best friend! Thank You! submitted by /u/lexandrix [link] [comments]
- Advice on how to stop a rooster from being mean?I took a minute long video explaining the situation, but 40 second got cut out. Essentially I’m covered in scars thanks to him. He only attacks in bratty ways and he knows he shouldn’t because after an attack he’ll usually run away but lately his attacks aren’t just a quick bite, but a grab and pull trying to tear my flesh from me. It often happens when I casually lean down to give him a pat or if I try to walk away from him. He follows me around endlessly and he does like gentle touch and pets, but he’s being a mean brat. When he bit me a second ago, I didn’t get to show it in the video, but it’s a big swollen blood blister on my arm. I pinned him to the ground. I can carry him around without worrying about him biting me or my face but he’s a heavy bird and it causes him to pant when I carry him so I don’t do it for very long cause I don’t want to make him uncomfortable in a painful way. Any advice on how to deal with the situation and get him to be a little less mean? Also turning him into stew is not an option. I’ve spent thousands on this bird in vet visits alone and specialty care. All of my birds are special needs rescues and I would never eat them. I don’t even like poultry meat never have so I would appreciate it if people didn’t tell me to eat him. submitted by /u/Camry08 [link] [comments]
- Rooster being a turdDoes anybody know what causes a rooster to all of a sudden change his entire attitude and attack you?! I’ve never had a problem with any of my roosters, and I recently gave two of them away because they were tearing up my chickens because I had too many and not enough chickens, now the one that I kept is a red one he’s got red eyes, and I thought he was beautiful until yesterday. He rammed in me he proceeded to act like he was gonna attack me. Then last night he came at me again., and again this morning, I’ve never had a problem with him and now all of a sudden he has a problem with me. I like to go in my coop and chill out with my chickens, but I’m not gonna be able to do that with him around, so I guess I’m gonna have to do something with him. It’s very unfortunate but I’m just curious if anyone knows why they just snap and start acting some type of way. submitted by /u/SafetyPrudent5419 [link] [comments]
