5 week old "pullet" crowed this morning đł
Our take

| I was dozing in my recliner this morning, when hearing a noise from the brooder, my husband and son simultaneously exclaimed "what the heck was that?" Thirty seconds later I, too, heard the noise. I knew immediately what the heck it was. My five week old TSC cream legbar "pullet", purchased at a day or so old, (they are auto-sexing, correct?) crowed. It was definitely a crow and it continued to crow three or four more times. I have four roosters, (three silkie, one silkie/buff orpington) and the clarity of this crow put them all to shame. I've never had this breed before so was it possible or likely that a cockrell chick got mixed in with the pullets and I unawares chose it? They only had pullets of this breed. Is it possible or likely that she has heard the adult roosters crowing and mimicked them? Either way, 5 weeks old! I did notice the large comb and wattles but not being familiar with legbars, and trusting the "pullets" label, I didn't give it much thought. Well, shame on me for not doing my research before buying. [link] [comments] |

- Purchased pullet, leaning cockerel? As the title says, bought americauna pullets from TSC (1/2 of my toddlers first flock). I bought 6 total pullets and all are leaning female except this one. Purchased at the end of February, so approximately 10 weeks old. It makes more noises than the others but I wouldnât say crowing has started yet. submitted by /u/numberonepapaw [link] [comments]
- Pullet or CockerelJust wondering if anyone can tell if they are both pullet or if I have a cockerel and pullet. They are both the same age. I want to say they are 5 weeks old but I'm not 100% sure as I got them from tractor supply march 20th. Left has longer tail feathers, wattle is bigger and red, and she makes a sound all the time that sounds like a hawk. Right has shorter feathers, wattle is small and not as red. submitted by /u/lilbadboob [link] [comments]
- Pullet or cockerelI'm a first time chicken owner with a flock of 20. The two pictured are a Rhode Island red (brown with spots) and the midnight majesty maran (pigeon looking one). They are the only two I think might be males based on picture 2's wattle coming in and picture one because if the redness and size of its comb compared to it's 4 sisters. In total I have 5 Rhode Islands, 5 marans and 10 leg horns. Other than those differences they are identical. The red is also the first to approach me overtime I enter, then all the others come over after she/he has done their scout. All checks are 55 days old (almost 8 weeks). - What is my baby doing?First time chicken owner here, what is my 5 week old bantam Cochin doing? I'm fairly confident he's a cockerel, so is this him trying to crow?! đđŤ Ps. Is it normal for him to be developing so slowly? I got three bantam cochins at the same time, he and my speckled frizzle are both still small and all fluff except for their wings, but his sister (the other one on my leg) is much bigger and covered in feathers. submitted by /u/Deirdre2cool [link] [comments]
